The Face Off

pondrocket_shirt_03_frontlogo

Remember watching those early 1980’s NHL games? Man, I love catching those games replayed on TV…can sit and watch the old Islanders / Oilers series all day long! This time period is the inspiration behind The Face-Off Shirt.

One of the most noticable things about watching those games (besides of how small the goalie pads were) was the clean playing surface with no ads on the boards and the only logos were those of the team and maybe the arena.

Think back to a time before the giant logo overtook the entire center face-off circle and then ruined the team logo with the red line.

Remember when teams used to have inverted logos? I just loved the simplicity of those inverted logos. A few teams still do it today.

Anyhow, I guess that time period resonates with me as it was when I was introduced to the game. It is funny the kind of stuff that sticks with you from when you were a kid. Well, with this in mind, I created The Face-Off shirt to pay tribute to the good old inverted center ice logos…

If I am going to have a shirt designed to resemble the face off circle, it had better be "skated on."

As with our First Line Lid, we needed to include our "banner" commemorating our inaugural season.

And with each PondRocket shirt, we pay homage to the Great One with our brand placement on the lower left hem.
